Mark graduated from Dundee University Medical School in 1987 and offers over 18 years Ophthalmic experience. He was appointed as a Consultant in Oculoplastic and Ophthalmic Surgery in 1999. During this time he has developed an Oculoplastic and Orbital Service for the local population of Warrington and Halton, Salford and Trafford, and receives tertiary referrals from North Wales, Merseyside and the Isle of Man. This service encompasses common conditions such as eyelid malpositions, ptosis and dry and watering eyes to more sub specialised areas such as peri-ocular tumour removal and reconstruction techniques, socket reconstruction (patients wearing a false eye) and orbital conditions such as thyroid orbitopathy and tumours. These services have been developed alongside a general ophthalmology commitment including cataract surgery and glaucoma management. Mark has worked in private practice since 1999 offering both general and oculoplastic procedures, which has led to the evolution and development of Vive Cosmetic Clinic.
As one of 50 founder members of the British Oculoplastic Surgeon Society (BOPSS), he is involved in determining standards, clinical governance and auditing.
Mark currently holds several positions across the region:
He is also a member of a number of medical and surgical organisations: General Medical Council, British Medical Association, Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the British Oculoplastic Surgeon Society (BOPSS).
Oculoplastic and orbital surgery is predominantly designed to treat pathology and restore or improve eye, eyelid and peri-ocular function whilst maintaining the best cosmetic result. Consequently Mark’s training and qualifications have equipped him with an excellent understanding and appreciation of the importance of both non-surgical and surgical treatments when assessing and advising clients regarding rejuvenation therapies.
Elizabeth qualified in medicine in 1988, graduating from Dundee University Medical School. She worked extensively in hospital medicine for several years in various medical and surgical specialities, and went on to qualify as a General Practitioner, accepting her position as a part-time principal at Padgate Medical Centre in 2000. Her background has provided her with a range of skills and experience most beneficial to the Vive clientele.
In addition to her general medical training, Elizabeth is qualified in the majority of the non-surgical aesthetic treatments available at Vive. She works closely with Mark in the pre-operative and post-operative care of the clients who opt for a surgical approach to their requirements. Elizabeth also advises on all aspects of skin care and has an extensive knowledge of the skin care ranges offered at Vive. (The skin care ranges by AgeraRx, SkinTech and Epionce are medicated and only available through specially selected centres).
Elizabeth feels strongly the importance of offering a personalised and more holistic approach to patient care within the cosmetic industry. As the demand for non-surgical aesthetic consultations has grown, she has developed a range of treatments that can be used either alone or in combination with surgery in order to achieve the best results for her clients. She also works closely with consultant plastic surgeons and dermatologists and some treatment programmes may involve their services where appropriate.
The development of Vive is testimonial to the fact that a combination of surgical and non-surgical treatments, tailored to an individual’s needs, can often deliver the best aesthetic results. The development of our non-surgical aesthetic service is a natural progression as we seek to provide a comprehensive and specialist range of cosmetic solutions.
Both Mark and Elizabeth feel it is vitally important to adopt a holistic approach when considering a client’s concerns and with their extensive knowledge of the treatment options available, both non-surgical and surgical, they are well-placed to determine a personalised treatment plan.
