Dermal Fillers
A dermal filler is a substance which is injected into the skin to plump it up, make it firmer and smooth out lines and wrinkles, replenishing both volume and tone.
Fillers can be used in several facial areas including; lines and wrinkles; to enhance lips by improving definition and volume; on frown lines, nasolabial folds and acne scarring.
Dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring compound in the skin, which retains moisture and contributes towards skin volume and tone. Vive offer patients the choice of two proprietary fillers - hydrafill and restylane. The preferred choice of product will be discussed during your consultation, when your clinician will recommend the product most suitable and beneficial to your needs. No allergy test is required and both treatments can be used alongside anti wrinkle injections.
The treatment can take as little as 20 minutes but may take longer depending on individual requirements. The injection is carried out using a very fine needle and even though discomfort is usually minimal, an anaesthetic cream is routinely offered.
The effects are visible immediately, lasting for between 4 and 9 months. After treatment a slight swelling and small red marks may appear which will usually fade within a few hours. Occasionally, some bruising can occur.
